Australia Reverse Phone Lookup

My mum recieved one of these calls today, from a "Jack Thompson". She told him "that's the name of an actor" (most Aussies know him?!) and the guy said "oh is it".... anyway he claimed that her internet connection would be disconnected tomorrow as there was some issue with it. My mum is quite savvy and asked him where he was calling from, he gave her the name of a street in Melbourne that sounded familiar to her, but she couldn't remember (I live in Melbourne now and could have told her instantly if the street was bogus).

She asked the guy to state her name (the account holder) and her location/ address. He didn't answer her and she asked to speak to a supervisor (knowing he probably had none). He gave her a number to call back, so she did to see what they would say. She believed the same guy answered using a different name and the call was soon terminated. She blocked her number (you put in certain digits before calling eg #31# or another combination) an called back, they did not take the call.

She then called Telstra/ Bigpond to tell them that she had recieved a phonecall and to verify that it was indeed a scam. They confirmed it was a scam and told her that the number had been traced back to India.

had the same call today. I wish I could block my phone from received non-australia phone calls.

A customer of mine had a similar call to above an Indian claimed he was David Miller and his Telstra ID TLAU8001 also asked his female supervisor to talk to the customer wouldn't shut up and was very intimidating.

Just received a call from Bryan saying he was from the Telstra Technical Department. He said that he needed to log into our computer to clear all the viruses and cookies on our computer. He mentioned that he tried to notify us several times and my reply to Him was how and when? He then went on to say that they didn't try to notify us and went babbling on about my internet connection being disconnected if this is not fixed up immediately. He then went on to say that all my details on my computer would be wiped out by this issue if I did not proceed. I asked for a contact number so that I could call back and He gave me this 03 90185669 which is a legit number but they are definitely not from Telstra. I did call Telstra and spoke to a representative and He confirmed that this is a scam and also said that they would not call me if there were issues with viruses on the computer (etc.) and if they were going to disconnect the internet that we would receive plenty of notification before they would do this. The advice is to just Hang Up and not waste your time with these people that have nothing better to do than ruin people's lives.

My wife didn't believe Stella's story about Telstra about to disconnect our internet due to misuse so tool their details for me to ring them back. A definite o/s scam - when I rang back she was reading from a script and when I asked questions such as 'who is our provider' she faltered and was unable to answer.

I received a call from a "Telstra" representative called "Stella" Id No S197 advising that they wanted to log into my computer to remove 'hacking' software which they were aware was affecting my internet connection. When I pressed for the address where Stella worked she just kept repeating ....eleven Victoria....Stella eventually hung up. I suspect an attempt to hack into my computer

Just had a scam call from mr spark, it' a scam alright, rang my service provider to confirm, best advice just hang up.

I also got a fake Telstra call claiming that they were going to cut off my internet connection due to junk and viruses on my computer causing damage to the network. When I said I was busy I was given the number 0390185669, a name of Christine and her ID S0296. I tried to call the number but it rang for quite a while and then hung up.

After coming home from a Melbourne Hospital today 09 July 2014 I answered a call. The caller gave his name as Sjordan Stark phone number: 03 90185669. His number: DCA 5967. He was telling me that my internet would be disconnected immediately.....I had reservations about the call and thought it might be a scam......I was right..... If my internet is disconnected there will be feathers flying........

Also got a fake Telstra call wanting to send someone to my house claiming that they were going to cut off my internet connection due to junk and viruses on my computer causing damage to the network. When I told her that i want her to give me a number so that my son can clarify the situation with her, she gave me this number. My son says that it just rings out!

I got a fake Telstra call. I asked for a number to ring back and was given this one, but I don't know that the call originated from this number. I tried ringing it and got an answering machine.

The number may be perfectly innocent.
