Australia Reverse Phone Lookup

I've had several calls from "Ricky Jones" (with indian accent) calling to say he is from WINDOWS in Melbourne and they would like me to give them remote access to my computer to fix the errors that have been coming through on reports. They gave me a CLSID number which matched a serial number or some other number on my computer but when i googles the website he gave me to download the remote access software i was immediately suspicios as it had an IP address in Brazil. This sounds like a scam just to access your computer so they have your passwords and files.

Same phone number. Very convincing scam to get credit card and personal details. Indian accent.

Called saying he was from Telstra and I had computer problems. I asked if he was from Telstra they should be able to tell me my account number, what is it, he could only provide me with a CLS number or something, I asked for a phone number at Telstra and I would call them back, this was the number provided.

Same story, had 4 calls in 2 days. Sometimes I just have fun with them stringing out the call for as long as I can til they hang up on me. One of them gave me this number as I said I had someone at the door but was very worried about the problem he was wanting to "fix"and would ring him back. This mob have a different style to earlier scammers, sounding more calm (even when you say this sounds like one of those scams to me) and in control so some people could fall for it.

Same as everyone else here. A guy with an indian accent calls. They have tried twice already to scam us into downloading remote access software.

They asked to go to Event Viewer on your computer to locate errors etc.

Then to download software blah blah blah.

Basically posing as a Telstra Technician in an attempt to scam you.

When I found him out. I threatened to call the police. He quickly said "**** You" and hung up.

From the background noise it sounded like it was a busy room so maybe its actually a small organisation trying to scam all of us.

Called Telstra to report the incident and also alerted IInet.

A person with an Indian accent called 15/10/2013 claiming to be from Telstra customer care, claiming that my computer was downloading from the Telstra server and he could fix the problem in ten minutes. My ISP is not Telstra so I did see this as possible. Anyway I refused as I couldn't be sure he was legitimate. He gave me a phone number 03 90168952 to ring to verify his position with Telstra he gave me the name James Colman and an ID No. R02. When I phoned this number the person who answered (also with an Indian accent) put me straight through to James Colman within seconds, seems very dodgy to me. I have not been able to confirm the phone number as being a genuine Telstra service number.

This number was given as a contact for Telstra internet help desk.I feel this is used by a phone scam,caller offered to fix problems I had been experiencing with my computer.Eventually a cost was involved with fix.

Some on rang claiming they were from Telstra - and offered me this number to call to confirm they are legitimate. They answered like it was in India - and certainly NOT a Telstra call centre standard. They wanted me to download remote access software to take control of my PC. Ouch! Smells like a scam!

I wish to report suspected fraudulent activity.

A Phone call from someone purporting to be from Telstra regarding a problem with the line at approximately 5 pm on 11 September 2013.

I asked how tee caller (sounded like an Indian accent and the background voices were also of this origin)got the number and he said he got it from the IP address in the house.

He then asked did we have Windows operating system - I said no, as I was concerned that this stranger was asking questions I was not prepared to divulge to a stranger.

I requested his contact number to call them back and he gave this number 0290168952.

I said I was confused as to how he could get my number from my IP address as this was (I assumed private) and I would call the number back. He then got very short tempered and started to say I was being stupid - at that time he hung up on me.

Im not stupid enough to know that if I have a utilities problem, someone would instantly call me from customer services to inform me of the problem.

Obviously no details were provided but on a quick search, this number is not connected to Telstra from what I can find and I checked with the caller that this was the correct number.
